EMDR was developed by Francine Shapiro in 1987. It is a treatment protocol for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This evidence-based structured treatment model helps to process overwhelming experiences which then allows the person to interact with the world from a healthy perspective.
This modality is also known as EFT or Tapping. EFT was developed into an eight-point sequence protocol
by Gary Craig in 1995. EFT is an energy-based therapy derived from acupressure, kinesiology, and
thought field therapy. This gentle technique is used as a mind-body therapy tool to process adverse
experiences.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) was developed by Susan M. Johnson in the 1980s. This evidenced-based experiential therapy “addresses [attachment] and emotion in the process of relationship repair” (Johnson, S. M., 2004).
Mindfulness is the human ability to be fully aware and present in the moment. Clearing one’s mind while focusing on your breath helps to maintain focus, reduce stress and anxiety, and enhance performance. “Breathe My Dear” (Thich Nhat Hanh, 2007).
